GRAMMY-NOMINATED ROCKERS THE BLACK CROWES WREAK HAVOC WITH RUSS MEYER-INSPIRED VIDEO FOR NEWLY RELEASED SINGLE “PROFANE PROPHECY»

Published

on

Legendary rock icons and 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees The Black Crowes today released a Russ Meyer-inspired official music video for their newly-released single “Profane Prophecy” off the band’s forthcoming album, A Pound of Feathers, out everywhere March 13.

Equal parts decadent, confrontational, and artfully unhinged, the video uses the color red and devils as both an aesthetic and metaphor. Representing the seven deadly sins, the devils are unleashed into a world of stark, unforgiving morality, sowing chaos at every turn around the band – designed to deliberately feel off-kilter and blur the line between fantasy and reality.

“‘Profane Prophecy’ is about the devil you know, the devil you never knew, the devil inside of me and devil inside of you,” shares Chris Robinson. “The mischief and madness in the beautiful expression that is rock n roll… and you can dance to it.”

Out now, the accompanying visual was shot in Los Angeles and directed by artist and musician Dagger Polyester whom Chris Robinson discovered in LA’s underground music scene. A fever-dream spectacle inspired by the provocative, hyper-stylized world of Russ Meyer, Dagger enlisted 15 students from an Los Angeles Art Collective to help bring the video to life, meticulously designing the costumes, building the set, developing choreography and styling each character’s hair and makeup.

Rapid cuts, daring composition and a surprising, fatale finale echo the audacious spirit of cult cinema’s most notorious provocations. Anchoring the chaos are brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, whose performance cut through the surreal visuals, resulting in a visual that feels both classic and daring – a modern tribune to outsider art, pulp mythology, and theatrical danger that once defined rock music.

The explosive opener sets the tone for the whole project. Fueled by kinetic rhythms and alluring attitude, the track radiates pulp-soaked, unapologetic confidence, blending cheeky fun and funky lyricism with driving, powerful instrumentals only founding members and brothers – Chris and Rich Robinson – could deliver.

Available everywhere now, watch the official music video for “Profane Prophecy” HERE, view behind-the-scenes photos HERE, and pre-order/pre-save/pre-add A Pound of Feathers HERE.

Right before embarking on their next quest — an extensive tour throughout USA and Canada with support coming from Ov Sulfur and Atlas — ORBIT CULTURE are releasing a live video for the fan-favorite «The Storm,» which was filmed by Riivata Visuals and Grimvisions during their highly successful European tour last winter.

Watch the video here.

The band comments, «This video for ‘The Storm’ documents our last headline tour. Most of the footage was shot in Gothenburg, close to where we come from. reflects that feeling without needing to explain it.»

It marks another video for their acclaimed album Death Above Life that was released to overwhelmingly positive feedback by fans and media in October of last year.

«The album represents change, a new beginning,» says guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Niklas Karlsson. «It brings up a lot of good and bad emotions but it’s a big change for the better. It feels like a rebirth.»

Acclaimed Texas Alt-Rock Band SPARTA Stream New Documentary, «Scenic Drive,» Today Via VEEPS; Information On New Album To Be Announced Soon

Published

on

VEEPS and Sparta have announced the world premiere of Scenic Drive, the acclaimed El Paso, TX-based alt-rock band’s brand new documentary. Premiering today, ThursdayFebruary 12Scenic Drive finds frontman Jim Ward taking a road trip — literally and figuratively — through the past while also looking forward to the future. Shot in stark, striking black and white, the film follows Ward back home in El Paso, retracing the steps, both small and significant, that he took there in his youth, alongside those he’s taking now.

One thing all humans have the unique ability to do is look back. In Scenic Drive, Ward heads steadily towards the forthcoming Sparta record by revisiting songs from earlier in the band’s career. It serves as an acknowledgement that even though he’s moving on to what he calls a new volume in his and the band’s life, the past will never not be there. The result is 40 striking, stirring, moving minutes that capture the poetry of life — of older eyes looking back on younger years — as time continues to steadily march on, the way time always does.

Join the global premiere of Sparta’s Scenic Drive, taking place today over at VEEPSHERE. A limited edition Scenic Drive t-shirt and bundle is also available for pre-order now via VEEPS. Use code 5OFF when purchasing a ticket & shirt in the same transaction for $5 off your order.

And stay tuned for more information on the forthcoming studio album from Sparta to be announced in the coming weeks.
