Mia Threapleton has joined the growing ensemble cast of Damien Chazelle’s upcoming untitled drama, which is set to star Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig.

Michelle Williams is also on board the project, which Chazelle will write and direct. The filmmaker is producing alongside Olivia Hamilton through their Wild Chickens Productions banner, with Paramount Pictures handling distribution.

Story details are being kept tightly under wraps, though sources say the film is set largely within a prison. Production is expected to begin later this year.

The project continues Chazelle’s streak of attracting top-tier talent following the success of Whiplash, La La Land and Babylon. Known for his meticulous casting process, the Oscar-winning director is said to have taken considerable time auditioning actors for select roles central to the narrative, with Threapleton ultimately emerging as a standout choice.

Threapleton most recently drew attention for her scene-stealing turn opposite Benicio del Toro in Wes Anderson’s latest feature, The Phoenician Scheme. On television, she stars in Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers, which recently wrapped its second season.
