Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Biopic Unveils Sweeping New Trailer

Lionsgate has unveiled the full trailer for Michael, its upcoming biopic centered on the life and career of Michael Jackson, as the film heads toward an April 24 theatrical release.

The trailer charts Jackson’s rise from prodigious talent to global superstardom, underscored by several of his most recognizable songs. Opening with affirmations of confidence and greatness, the footage presents a sweeping portrait of the artist’s ascent, highlighting his drive, ambition and cultural impact.

Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, stars in the title role, making his feature film debut. Across the two-minute-plus trailer, he is seen recreating key moments from Jackson’s career, from early performances to the height of his fame, showcasing singing, dancing and stage presence closely associated with the pop icon.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael also stars Miles Teller as John Branca, Jackson’s longtime attorney and adviser; Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson; Nia Long as Katherine Jackson; Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson; Larenz Tate as Motown founder Berry Gordy; Laura Harrier as music executive Suzanne de Passe; Kat Graham as Diana Ross; and Juliano Valdi as Jackson during the Jackson 5 era.

The film has drawn industry attention amid shifting release plans, though Lionsgate has now confirmed its April 24 rollout. While the trailer and synopsis focus primarily on Jackson’s creative evolution and early solo success, the extent to which the film will address later periods of his life has not been detailed.
