Apple TV has locked in a premiere date for Cape Fear, its forthcoming psychological thriller series starring Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson and Javier Bardem.

The 10-episode drama will debut globally on June 5, 2026, launching with its first two installments. New episodes will roll out weekly on Fridays, with the season concluding on July 31. Alongside the date announcement, Apple unveiled several first-look images featuring Adams, Wilson and Bardem, though the photos offer little insight into the precise circumstances surrounding their characters.

Cape Fear is adapted from John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which previously served as the basis for the 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. Apple has indicated that the new series draws particular inspiration from the Scorsese film.

Nick Antosca (The Act, A Friend of the Family) created the series and serves as writer and showrunner. The show is described as a Hitchcockian thriller that also interrogates America’s modern fixation on true crime and its cultural consequences.

The story centers on married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden (Adams and Wilson), whose seemingly stable life begins to unravel when Max Cady (Bardem), a convicted killer they helped put behind bars, is released from prison. With Cady newly free, a long-buried past resurfaces, setting the stage for a calculated and deeply personal quest for revenge.
