Edward Berger’s A24 Drama “The Riders” Expands Cast With Julianne Nicholson and Coco Greenstone
Julianne Nicholson and Coco Greenstone have joined Brad Pitt in A24’s upcoming feature adaptation of The Riders, with All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger at the helm. David Kajganich is adapting the screenplay from Tim Winton’s acclaimed novel.
The story centers on Fred Scully (Pitt), who, after spending two years traveling through Europe, settles in Ireland with his wife Jennifer and their young daughter. On a spontaneous whim, Jennifer convinces the family to purchase an old farmhouse nestled in the shadow of a nearby castle. While Scully remains behind to renovate the property, Jennifer returns to Australia to sell off their assets.
When Scully arrives at Shannon Airport to reunite with his family, only his seven-year-old daughter Billie emerges from the arrival gate. Jennifer is nowhere to be found—no note, no explanation, not even a goodbye. The shock leaves Billie speechless and sends Scully’s life into sudden collapse, triggering a harrowing emotional journey.
The film is being produced by Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss for Scott Free, alongside Kajganich and Berger under his Nine Hours banner. Pitt also produces with Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner for Plan B Entertainment. Production is set to begin this month and will shoot across multiple European locations. A24 is financing the project and will handle its worldwide theatrical release.
Nicholson is coming off a strong 2025 on television, earning an Emmy nomination for her performance in Paradise and winning an Emmy for her guest role on HBO Max’s Hacks. She’ll next appear in the second season of Paradise, which premieres next month on Hulu.
