Richard Gere (The Agency, Chicago) has joined the cast of The Off Weeks, Apple TV+’s upcoming eight-episode limited series starring and executive produced by Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller. The series hails from director Michael Showalter, showrunner Alissa Nutting, and Apple Studios.

The Off Weeks centers on Gus Adler (Stiller), a writing professor whose life is upended by divorce. As he struggles to keep things together during his “on weeks,” when he has custody of his children, Gus finds himself spiraling in his “off weeks,” where he begins a dangerous romance with Stella West (Chastain). Stella’s sudden arrival sends Gus’ carefully divided life into chaos, pushing his parental responsibilities and personal desires toward an inevitable and potentially disastrous collision.

Gere will portray Jonathan, though details about the character are being kept under wraps. He joins an already strong supporting cast that includes Arian Moayed and Annaleigh Ashford.

The series is executive produced by Nutting alongside Stiller and John Lesher for Red Hour, Chastain and Kelly Carmichael for Freckle Films, Michael Showalter and Jordana Mollick for Semi-Formal Productions, and Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher for wiip. Additional executive producers include Peter Principato, Allen Fischer, and Brian Steinberg for Artists First, as well as Dean Bakopoulos (Made for Love).
