‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 Adds Steve Coogan & Caleb Jonte Edwards

Mike White is once again stacking the deck with an intriguing mix of veterans and newcomers.

Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge) and rising actor Caleb Jonte Edwards (Black Snow) have officially landed roles in Season 4 of HBO’s Emmy-winning phenomenon The White Lotus. As per tradition with one of TV’s most spoiler-sensitive shows, character details are being kept tightly under wraps — no surprise there.

They join a growing cast that already includes Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka, with plenty of casting intrigue still swirling around the season. Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly in negotiations, according to Deadline, though HBO hasn’t confirmed her involvement just yet. Adding to the buzz, Chris Messina is also said to be in early talks for a role.

If you were wondering where this latest batch of rich, messy vacationers will implode, Season 4 is heading to France, with the stunning Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez serving as the central luxury hotel. After Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, the French Riviera feels like a perfectly decadent next stop for the show’s signature blend of sun-soaked beauty and simmering dysfunction.

As always, the new season will follow a fresh group of guests and hotel employees over the course of a week, dissecting privilege, power, and personal collapse with Mike White’s razor-sharp dark humor. White once again serves as creator, writer, and director, executive producing alongside David Bernad and Mark Kamine.

Coogan feels like an especially inspired addition. A two-time Oscar nominee, he’s a master at playing charmingly unpleasant characters — the kind of person who could absolutely unravel in a White Lotus setting. He was recently seen in How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) and The Sandman, and has upcoming projects including Netflix’s crime thriller Legends and Michael Cera’s directorial debut Love Is Not the Answer.

Edwards, meanwhile, is very much the wildcard. Still largely unknown, his most notable credit so far is a guest role on Black Snow, making The White Lotus a major career leap — and exactly the kind of breakout platform the show has become known for.

No premiere date yet, but with casting like this and a glamorous new setting locked in, Season 4 of The White Lotus is already shaping up to be another exquisitely uncomfortable vacation worth booking.
